The end of the year blitz is on!

I've seen seven movies this week, and I still need to see a whole mess of others. Top ten lists are due a week from tomorrow and I take this stuff seriously. Off the top of my head: Apocalypto, Babel, The Road to Guantanamo, The Notorious Bettie Page, The Last King of Scotland, and Letters from Iwo Jima. Oh and Old Joy.

I'm seeing The Good German next week, and The Painted Veil. Plus I want to see Art School Confidential again to confirm my opinion of it.

I'm tired. Anyone else tired? And what do YOU still need to see to complete your top ten list?

Oh my goodness there will be no such thing as comfortable sleep until Christmas is over--there is just too much to see. My "to see" list is too embarassingly long to say, but I'll give you a few for fun:

-Little Miss Sunshine, Babel, The Queen, Fast Food Nation, Borat, and maybe a re-screening of Flags of Our Fathers.....not to mention Inland Empire, which hasn't even opened in Chicago yet....

Get the coffee on.

I'm so lame, I've only seen "Stranger Than Fiction" in the theaters in the last two months. Of course I'm not a critic either. Late december to the Oscars are the only time in the year that I regret living off of Netflix. Chances are of any film I'll get to this next week it will be "Holiday".

Goodness, don't let me forget IWO JIMA (like I would). I haven't seen The Fountain yet either, and though it's getting rough reviews, I gotta see it to give me peace of mind in my Top Ten. I'm an Aronofsky fan, though more of Pi than Requiem.....whatever....

But I can't bring myself to see Apocalypto. Ick.

I watched Apocalypto tonight. It was excessively violent and absurd, but fun to talk about afterwards. Costumes were great. Like The Patriot we must see everyone die and every single time in a horrible manner. It's a mixed bag.

I saw THE NOTORIOUS BETTIE PAGE today (obviously, I wrote about it).

To Jessie: PERFUME is interesting but, in my opinion plenty flawed. Of that list, obviously CHILDREN OF MEN is my recommended viewing -- though I still need to see THE GOOD SHEPHERD (haven't heard about any screenings of that one).
