*I did an interview with Canadian poet/prof Randall Maggs for The Poetry Foundation. His book, Night Work, is the best collection of hockey poetry I've ever read, a loosely biographical portrait of Terry Sawchuk (not this guy, but this guy). Published to coincide with the NHL Finals, which the Red Wings are about to scamper away with rather quickly.
*One of my Rotterdam compatriots, Nandini Nair, wrote a piece about our experience in The Hindu ("India's National Newspaper"). There's a veiled reference to me inside, spend hours trying to find it!

First, hockey players don't scamper. A good interview in "Poetry", and Detroit WILL surely win, but they'll do it in a scamper-free manner.
Second, as a hockey-playing banker who woke up at age 40 to find himself in the middle of Nebraska of all places, with four young kids and a perilously infirmed wife, I strangely turned to poetry myself ... late one night after a particularly intense game ... still hopped up on an endorphine high ... and have been writing ever since. Have not yet written a poem about the sport, but look forward to reading the Sawchuck collection thanks to your interview.
Third, an unsolicited fantasy baseball tip: the vowel strategy is sound. Try fielding a team comprised solely of players whose names end in A, E, I, O, U (and sometimes Z). I once followed the Z Rule and did pretty well. Had I been more flexible and added a Molina or a Suzuki or a Guerrero to my lineup I would have dominated!

Your interview is fantastic, and the photo that accompanies it will enter the dreams of the populace.
Book recommendation: Cleo Birdwell's AMAZONS — co-ghost-written by Don DeLillo, fictional memoirs of the first woman to play in the NHL. Truly one of the five or six funniest novels I've read.
Todd - Do they glide? Or sashay? My insight into NHL ambulatory methods is admittedly small, so thanks for the correction.
My fantasy baseball strategy this year was to fill my infield with Cabreras. Miguel and Orlando, while starting slow, will soon lead to victory. And drafting Josh Hamilton helps my first place standing.
And Ed, while the Red Wings may not scamper to victory, they'll at least plod to it. I still think they'll do some hoisting of cups. And regarding the photo: I think I have my halloween costume this year.
